Behind the scenes filming promos and trailer for the 20-hour Les Miserables film series that I am producing with my period-drama secialist theatre and film company

We had a fantastic weekend filming for the trailer in Dartmouth and Plymouth for scenes with Valjean, Javert, Fantine, Marius and Cosette. Despite the very early morning starts that come with filming, and the fact we were filming in two towns, we had a fantastic time, supported by amazing local actors, and crew members. It is so exciting to see the series trailer coming together bit by bit, supported by an amazing cast. :) The next shoot is next Saturday, in Brixham Museum, and in Stoke Fleming.

Meantime, our producer grabbed some photos behind the scenes!

EDIT - And we have started a behind-the-scenes youtube channel at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLjNo_NJXQ6Nmj4Xq1ZjPl6y1TTy2eI7xF

(dont forget we are looking for supporting cast for the full series which commences filming around Devon and Cornwall at the end of the summer)

The community theatre group I founded is having to sell on a prop, that may  be of use to anyone into LARP or theatre, or filming, or SCA or re-enactment of things of that ilk. Its a large oak barrel, 3.5 feet by 2, in very good condition. Sadly we dont have room to store it any more as one of our members who was looking after it is moving.

Its on Ebay, pickup only, (rather too large and heavy to put in a parcel!!!) in Brixham, South Devon, England

I hope its OK to post this. (if not, delete... and no hard feelings ) I dont usually post my ebayings other than on dedicated Ebay-auction-listings comms , but I thought this might be OK as its relevant interest".

All profits from the sale go straight back into our theatre group funds.

Question on behalf of a friend who is going to be spending 2 and a half weeks in and around Plymouth in the Disney filming.

Can anyone reccomend a cheap B&B or hotel, that is in walking distance of Torpoint? (bearing in mind she cant relay on ferries and buses, having to be on set at 4am most days).

all info will be passed to her and we both send thanks in advance! :)

Aspiring Actors and Fangirls
Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland which is to be filmed at no other than Saltrum House.

And they need extras...

The film's casting agents are coming to the New Continental Hotel, Plymouth, on Wednesday August 6 and Thursday August 7, between 10am and 6pm, auditioning for paid extras. There is a minimum age limit of 16.

Ilenka Jelowicki, who has cast for James Bond movie Casino Royale and is company director for Mad Dog, said: “We are looking for people above the age of 16 who have naturally coloured hair.

“We would prefer girls with long hair and men with natural styles. Extras will get to dress up in Victorian period costume, corsets and wigs and will have their make-up done.

“We would also like people whose work allows the flexibility of two weeks' worth of filming.

David Shepheard, Head of Locations at South West Screen, confirmed that his team had been working with the Disney crew to scout possible locations across the West, although he refused to give details.

The Herald's historian, Barbican-based Chris Robinson, pointed to some possible prime spots for a Victorian-era film set.

He said: “The Barbican has the highest concentration of cobbled streets in the country and Mount Edgcumbe has one of the finest landscaped gardens in the country, so these are possibilities.

“In fact the Italian garden there would be perfect for a Mad Hatter's tea-party, and there is also a fine orangery.

He added: “Funnily enough I was at the Royal William last night, thinking what a fantastic location it would make for filming too, as it is so untouched and secluded.”

He also pointed towards the long colonnade at Devonport High for Boys, perfect for scenes with the Queen of Hearts, Fore Street in Plympton St Maurice and New Street, where part of Hornblower was filmed.

p.s. the Mad Hatter is probably going to be no other then Johnny Sex God Depp.

Jimmy Carr at the Pavilions

Does anyone in Plymouth want a ticket to see Jimmy Carr at The Pavilions this evening?  It's on the main floor, row 3.  The face value is £19.50 and I can deliver the ticket.  I'd planned on going, but only just got back from holiday yesterday and am still unpacking and sorting stuff so it's going to be too much of a rush :-(

My daughter Bev is a first year student at Plymouth College of Art and Design. She's looking for pregnant women who would be willing to model for torso casts, in return for ceramic sculptures of themselves.

Please reply here in the first instance and I'll put you in touch with Bev.
